Why you need a plugin like BackupBuddy

We regularly get calls from people asking to have your hacked website fixed up. The first thing we ask is do you have a backup as this is the fastest and the most cost-effective way to resolve the problem. I cannot ever remember anyone of those needing help with their hacked website ever having a backup

We regularly develop a customer’s website on out development domain and then we backup the site and restore it to the customers on domain. It is a fast and efficient way to do it – as it takes about 15min to do.

BackupBuddy Remote backup Capability

When you are using BackupBuddy you have a number of locations where you can store the backups:

  • BackupBuddy Stash
  • Amazon S3
  • Google Drive
  • arrow-right
    DropBox
  • Email
  • FTP
  • Local Directory Copy
  • arrow-right
    sFTP (Secure FTP)

I typically only store 5 copies of the server and have the backups automatically send they to DropBox or FTP them to a server.

Scheduling Capabilities

With the scheduling of a backup there are a few options.

  • Database Only backup
  • Complete Backup
  • Themes Only Backup
  • arrow-right
    Plugins Only Backup
  • arrow-right
    Media Only Backup

Then there is the frequency at which you want the backup to occur. Eg Daily, weekly, monthly etc.
I typically do a full backup of the website weekly or monthly depending on how active the website is and how often posts are created. However, I normally do a daily database backup.

You have the option to send the backup files to a remote location eg DropBox, and then you can automatically delete the local copy after the files are transferred.

I normally schedule the backup to occur in the middle of the night.

Malware Scan function

If you ever think, there may be an issue with your website it is worth running the Sucuri Malware scan as detects all sorts of malicious code which may have been stored on your website of if the site has been blacklisted.

BackupBuddy Pricing

So you may think is it worth the money? How much did it cost your toe have your website created or how much time did it take to create. I think you know the answer.
