How to Fix “This site may harm your computer” Warning from Google
Does your website display the following warning message: “This site may harm your computer” when either doing a search or visiting your website from Chrome? Unfortunately your website has some Malicious code installed on it. And you may need some website help to resolve this. If the message you are receiving is "This site may be hacked" then refer to this post.
How To Remove the Malware
- Restore your website from a backup that doesn’t contain the Malware.
- If you don’t have a recent backup then you need to find the malware code in your website and then remove the infected code.
Finally you need to scan you website to confirm the malicious code has been removed.
How to Remove the Message “This site may harm your computer”from Google
Once you have removed the malicious code from your website then you will need to request a review from within Google Webmaster Tools on the infected website. If there is still any infected pages on your website the request will fail.
In the Requesting a Review process, you will need to provide to Google how you cleaned your website of the malware. Post this Google will re-scan your website to confirm the malware has been removed and this generally takes 1 to 2 days.
Once Google has confirmed the website is clean of malware the “Visiting this site may harm your computer” warning message will be removed.
